Beijing Technology and Business University has both the first batch of students and the second batch of students in Beijing, but we usually think of Beijing Technology and Business University as a university. Beijing Technology and Business University is not a class A, nor a national key university of 2 1 1. It is as famous as Beijing Capital University of Economics and Business and Capital Normal University.

Beijing Technology and Business University was formed by the merger of Beijing Institute of Light Industry, Beijing Business School and Machinery Industry Management Cadre College in June 1999. Founded in 1958, Beijing Institute of Light Industry is the earliest light industry institution of higher learning in China, which is under the Ministry of Light Industry.

Beijing University of Commerce was formerly the Central Commercial Cadre School established by 1953 and the Cadre School of the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives established by 1950, which successively belonged to the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Internal Trade. Machinery Industry Management Cadre College was established in 1982, which belongs to the Ministry of Machinery Industry.
