It is not only the second oldest higher education institution in Hong Kong, but also one of the eight public research universities fully funded by the Hong Kong SAR Government. He is also a member of the Beijing-Hong Kong University Alliance and listed as a national key university by the Ministry of Education. The ranking position of HKBU is comparable to that of first-class universities in the Mainland, such as Peking University and Tsinghua.
