In other words, due to the exaggerated induction of various psychological diseases, the evil wolf in his heart was released. The evil wolf in this heart will also eat people, devouring others while devouring himself. This is the second time I have been to the ruins of Pompeii. Strangely, I was tired twice. Flat roads, small cities, but tired of wading through mountains and rivers, unbelievable.
I didn't care much at first, but then my legs and feet became heavier and heavier, so I stopped to find a place to sit. It suddenly occurred to me that I looked here last time. Not only here, looking forward, a section of the road is the most tiring image, shaking in the sun the year before and this year.
The only reason I remember is that I am tired.
Tired of heart, not tired of ruins, not tired of death. The ancient city of Pompeii was buried by volcanic ash, which happened on August 24, 79 AD, and it has been more than 1900 years. 1900 years later, even cities that have never experienced volcanic eruptions have become ruins, and it is difficult for us to worry and feel tired.
However, there is a shock that has reached us directly through 1900 years, and it will obviously continue to be shocked, that is, the collective death and instantaneous destruction of human groups without warning.
There are specific reasons for individual death and gradual destruction in daily life, and Pompeii cleanly washed away all the specific reasons. Whether this person has a heart attack or not, whether there is a crack in that building or not, and whether the owner and neighbors of this bathroom have a century-old feud or not, the accumulated anger of the two competitive teams has been close at hand, all of which will be written off and will never leave any mark again. He was called Pliny the Old because there was a little Pliny Gaius Plinyus, who was his nephew and was later adopted as an adopted son. This little Pliny is a famous prose writer in the history of the Roman Empire. A large part of Roman prose is actually letters. This tradition was initiated by Cicero MarcusTulliusCicero. Pliny Jr. inherited this tradition and became a master of writing beautiful letters. I read the book Roman Culture and Classical Tradition written by Professor Zhu Longhua, a China scholar, a few years ago. He is very interested in the literary expression of Cicero to Pliny Junior, and Professor Zhu has carefully analyzed it. Later, in Pliny Junior's letters, I found the one he told a historian about the Pompeii disaster, which mentioned the process of Pliny Sr's sacrifice. This is the complete account of the only survivor of this disaster, and he happens to be an essayist, and his preciousness is imaginable.
Pliny Sr was an outstanding scientist and important official in Italy at that time. When the Pompeii disaster occurred, he served as the commander of the west coast of Italy, also known as the commander of the Mediterranean Fleet. I really don't know how he managed to finish his 37-volume masterpiece Natural History and other 100 volumes.
According to Pliny Jr.' s letter, Pliny Sr. heard a strange cloud in the sky at noon on the day of the accident, so he put on his boots and climbed up to observe. After watching it for a while, he decided that it was very important with the sensitivity of scientists, and immediately ordered his men to prepare a boat and sail in the direction of that strange cloud for close observation.
But just before I went out, I received a letter from residents near Mount Vesuvius asking for help. He decided to give up scientific observation, ordered all ships to rush to the disaster area to save people, and his own ship took the lead. Burning volcanic ash and charred rubble are falling more and more on the ship. The pilot suggested going back, but Pliny Sr said that brave people will have good luck. ? He ordered the rescue again. As the commander of the fleet, he mainly rescues people who are fleeing at sea or hiding on the shore. He hugged his trembling friends and comforted them constantly. In order to calm them down, he smiled, bathed and ate, and explained the eruption of Mount Vesuvius as a fire caused by a big fire. He even slept soundly in volcanic ash until others worried that he would be buried and wake him up. Finally, he called on everyone to go to the seaside, because they could escape by boat at any time, but when they arrived at the seaside, the volcanic eruption made the sea crazy and impossible to sail.
