Wuhan University of Light Industry is located in Wuhan, Hubei Province, which is known as the thoroughfare of nine provinces. Founded in 195 1, it is the earliest school in China to train specialized personnel in the grain industry.

It belongs to the former Ministry of Food, the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Internal Trade. 1998 was jointly established by the central and local governments, with Hubei Province as the main management system. It is an ordinary university supported by Hubei Province and the State Grain Bureau.

South-Central University for Nationalities is a comprehensive general institution of higher learning directly under the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, located in the hometown of Baiyun Yellow Crane-the shore of South Lake in Wuhan.

The school, formerly known as South-Central University for Nationalities, was founded in 195 1 and renamed South-Central University for Nationalities in March 2002.
