Montpellier University, founded in 1289, is one of the oldest universities in the world. It was formed by the merger of three major disciplines in Montpellier at that time: medical college, art college and law school. Montpellier University, adhering to the fine tradition, successfully formed its own characteristics in the next few centuries, established its prestige in the world intellectual community and became a recognized world-class scientific research center.
