The Department of Basic Education of the University of Tokyo began to implement the short-term exchange study abroad system (AIKOM? :? Abroad? Are you online? Komaba), on the one hand, is responsible for receiving international students from universities all over the world to study in Japan for one year, on the other hand, it is also responsible for sending Japanese college students from the Department of Basic Education to study abroad.

According to this system, the basic education department and the university that signed the short-term exchange study agreement with it do not charge tuition fees from each other (students only need to pay tuition fees from the original university, but not from the university where they study abroad). On this premise, students in grades 3 and 4 are sent to the other country to study, and the original university recognizes the credits obtained by the students in the university where they study abroad.

AIKOM's courses are mainly conducted in English. In addition, foreign students can also choose to listen to Japanese courses and ordinary students' courses in the later courses of the Department of Basic Education. In addition, there is a personal research system for different topics that each student cares about.
