At the end of 1922, the two sides jointly established Shanghai University, with Yu Youren as the president, Deng Zhongxia as the provost, Shao Lizi as the general manager, Chen Wangdao as the head of the Chinese Department and Qu Qiubai as the head of the Social Science Department. 1923, Hu Yungong, a sophomore, was introduced by Qu Qiubai himself and formally joined the producer party of China. At Shanghai University, Hu Yungong was deeply influenced by Qu Qiubai, Cai Hesen, Zhang, Hui and other progressive books such as Marxism-Leninism. After a period of tempering in the inner-party organizational life, he became politically mature.

Shanghai University innovates in running schools, implements the credit system, and offers both compulsory courses and elective courses. Decades later, Hu Yungong also gave a thorough account of Qu Qiubai's teaching from Hegel's philosophy to Marx's philosophy and wrote it down in simple terms. I admire Cai Hesen's exposition on the history of social development, and directly quoted the relevant chapters in Engles' The Role of Labor in the Process of Transformation from Ape to Man and the Origin of Family, Private Ownership and State from the foreign language edition. Zhang Yun, the deskmate, wavered politically, and the party organization in the class did not discuss and absorb him into the Party in time. Later, he inexplicably became the head of the party organization of Shanghai University, which was surprising and inexplicable. In the late 1950s, Hu Yungong realized that he was Kang Sheng!

Later, only Anhui students became famous in Shanghai University, including Xue of Shouxian County, the former secretary of Shanghai University. Wang Buwen, a native of Qianshan, 1930 was appointed secretary of Anhui Provincial Party Committee; Xie, a native of Lu 'an, was the vice president of the All-China Freemasonry before liberation. And Wang Ganchang, Tao Huai, Huang, Hu Honglang, Wu Zhen, Gui Chao and dozens of others. Special mention should be made to Cao Yuan here. He came to Shanghai from Wuhu and rented a kitchen tent to stay. While introducing fellow villagers of the same age to work for a living, Hu Yungong continued to introduce him to the common sense of Marxism-Leninism, lent him books on progress, and took him to the university to sit in and keep a room. Cao Yuan's brother Cao Shaoxiu came to Shanghai and received him warmly.

During the first cooperation between China and the United States, Shanghai University was a revolutionary melting pot. At that time, there was a saying called "Wen Da, Wu Huangpu". And "joining the army" is the most progressive move in an extraordinary period. When Huangpu Military Academy came to Shanghai to enroll students, Hu Yungong and Cao Yuan were first-year students, but Qu Qiubai insisted that Hu Yungong stay and do student work, so he had to send Cao Xiannan to Guangzhou.
