Do universities need roll call?
I think the university class should try to reduce the roll call! Roll call is just a means, not an end. In some ways, roll call can really promote students' attendance, keep students in class and let them master knowledge through teachers' teaching. But the reality is that for most students who don't want to go to class, this way can play a very small role. Its role only stays in improving attendance, which not only wastes the good intentions of educators, but also defiles the essence of education. To sum up, the role of roll call can only cure the symptoms, not the root cause. The essence of improving university education lies in improving the quality of university classroom teaching. Only by scientifically and systematically improving the teaching content, changing the traditional teaching mode, increasing classroom interaction and improving the entertainment and practicality of the teaching process can students really enjoy learning. Only in this way can we fundamentally improve the quality of teaching, and then replace the dilemma of attracting students to attend classes by roll call.
