College of Modern Science and Technology of Taiyuan University of Technology is located in xiaoyi city. Sponsored by Taiyuan University of Technology, initiated by Shanxi Provincial Department of Education, it is the first batch of key independent colleges in Shanxi Province. Approved by the Ministry of Education and the Shanxi Provincial People's Government, Taiyuan University of Technology and the xiaoyi city Municipal People's Government are the institutions of higher learning that implement undergraduate education.

Based on the dominant major of "2 1 1 engineering" in Taiyuan University of Technology and guided by social needs, the college currently offers 38 undergraduate majors and 60 majors, covering 7 disciplines including engineering, science, literature, law, economics, management and education. Taiyuan University of Technology has 35 undergraduate majors and 7 doctoral programs supported by/kloc-0. Among them, chemical engineering and technology, material forming and its control engineering and mining engineering are all supported by national key disciplines. As of May 20 13, there are 8 full-time teachers in the college, including 3 18 associate professors and above, 287 lecturers and 62/kloc-0 doctors and masters. The college has 15 departments and 2 departments, and 13638 students.

With the continuous development and improvement of teachers, humanities, style of study and campus construction in colleges and universities, the number of students with Grade B scores above in some majors has increased year by year in recent years, and the quality and reputation of students have improved year by year. The Institute of Modern Science and Technology of Taiyuan University of Technology, jointly established by xiaoyi city and Taiyuan University of Technology, has developed rapidly with the strong support of xiaoyi city Municipal Government. In the future, it is expected that under the guidance of upgrading some majors to two B-type colleges, they will gradually develop into two B-type colleges, apply for joint postgraduate programs, and gradually enter innovative and practical universities for undergraduate and postgraduate education.

Xiaoyi Campus of College of Modern Science and Technology of Taiyuan University of Technology is located in the south bank of the beautiful Saint West Lake Wetland Park in xiaoyi city, with a planned total area of 1.500 mu and a total construction area of 600,000 square meters. The college is divided into two campuses. The south campus covers an area of about 760 mu, with a total construction area of10.6 million square meters.
