Huaqiao University is a multidisciplinary university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), focusing on the education of overseas Chinese and international students. It is the mainstay of overseas Chinese in China and one of the important bases for overseas Chinese education. Huaqiao University, formerly known as Nanyang College, was founded in 1953 and moved to Xiamen, Fujian, China in 1958, and was renamed Huaqiao College. 1983, Huaqiao College was upgraded to Huaqiao University, becoming one of the earliest Huaqiao Colleges with the name of "University" in Chinese mainland. At present, the school has two campuses, located in Xiamen and Quanzhou respectively.
