Overview of Institute of Microelectronics and Information Technology, Wuhan University
The Institute of Microelectronics and Information Technology of Wuhan University was established in April 2004 (Wu Da Li Ke Zi [2004] No.20) in order to give full play to the advantages of overseas teaching, promote interdisciplinary integration and accelerate the development of microelectronics and related disciplines. It was established on the basis of Electronic Information College, State Key Laboratory of Software Engineering, Computer College, College of Physical Science and Technology and College of Life Sciences, with Professor Wang Gaofeng as the principal. Relying on the accumulation of "microelectronics and solid-state electronics" in Wuhan University for decades, the Institute has strong technical and academic advantages. It is a national key discipline, the "2 1 1 project" construction discipline and the "985 project" construction discipline of Wuhan University, and the first-class discipline has the right to award doctoral degrees. Since its establishment, the Institute has made great progress through the full cooperation with the relevant departments of the school, and has become one of the important bases for the training and technology research and development of advanced talents such as masters and doctors in microelectronics in Central China, especially in Wuhan. With the goal of meeting the country's major strategic needs, the Institute has reached the domestic leading level in applied research, aimed at the international frontier scientific problems in this field, reached the international advanced level in innovative research, and strived to establish a domestic leading and world-class integrated circuit research exchange platform at a high starting point and level, becoming a training base for integrated circuit talents, the cradle of independent property rights of national integrated circuit design software and the national high-frequency integrated circuit research center.
