According to the master plan of the new area and the detailed control plan of the central area of Lanzhou New Area, the preliminary planning of the University Town is in the areas east of Qi Jing Road, west of Jingshi Road, south of Weishi Road and north of Wei Ba Road. The planned university town in the new area covers an area of about 6,543,800 mu. At present, the new district is entrusting the design unit to compile the urban design of the university town.

At present, there are 10 colleges and universities (vocational and technical colleges) ready to sign contracts at Lanzhou Fair, namely, the new campus of Gansu College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Lanzhou Medical College (to be built), Northwest Normal University, Lanzhou Institute of Technology, Zhixing College of Northwest Normal University, Gansu Vocational and Technical College of Communications, Gansu Union University and Lanzhou Vocational College of Foreign Languages.
