Meng Minwei Building, the cultural activity center of Tsinghua University students, is located in the south of the West District Gymnasium, covering an area of 2,483 square meters and a building area of 407 1 square meter. The building is managed by the Art Education Center affiliated to the College of Humanities. The first floor is mainly the activity room of the student art troupe, including six rehearsal rooms, such as folk band, military band and drama team, as well as a photo studio and reference room. There are multi-function halls and more than ten piano rooms on the second floor. There are 24 independent piano rooms on the third floor for students to practice various Chinese and western musical instruments. The whole building can accommodate thousands of people at the same time.
The Student Cultural Activity Center was designed by Tsinghua Institute of Architectural Design and Research, with the foundation laid on 1993 and completed in September, 1995. The total investment is US$ 654.38 million, donated by Mr. Meng, an alumnus of Tsinghua, chairman and consultant professor of Hong Kong Shun Hing Group. This is the first building donated by Tsinghua alumni for their alma mater in recent years.
