Southern College of Sun Yat-sen University is an independent college jointly founded by Sun Yat-sen University and Guangdong Zhujiang Investment Group with the approval of the Ministry of Education in 2006. It is a multi-disciplinary full-time application-oriented undergraduate college, and was selected as a pilot college for undergraduate transformation in Guangdong Province in 20 16.

There are 2 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 4 provincial majors, 6 provincial college students' practice teaching bases, 3 provincial teaching teams, 5 provincial excellent resources, 7 provincial comprehensive reform pilot professional projects, 6 provincial talent training mode innovation experimental areas, 6 school-level key professional construction projects and 5 school-level professional construction projects in Guangdong Province. And set up 15 school-level and department-level scientific research institutions and 1 school-level scientific research teams, including the Financial Market and Kinetic Energy Strategy Research Center.
