I purpose of running a school

China-Canada International College was established in September, 20001. Co-founded by Guangxi University and Canadian International Education Foundation and Center. Its purpose is to cultivate "English+major" compound talents with strong language application ability and international standards by introducing and drawing lessons from foreign advanced teaching concepts and methods, combining the needs of Guangxi's economic construction and social development, and taking advantage of Guangxi University's complete disciplines.

Second, the professional introduction

As the first step of the school's "English+major" compound talent training model, the college currently offers an undergraduate major: English (Chinese-foreign cooperative education). The students of China-Canada International College majored in English-related courses in the first and second years after their admission, and all the main courses were taught by foreign teachers, so as to cultivate students' strong English communication ability and application ability.

After two years, students can apply for admission to all undergraduate majors of Guangxi University according to their personal interests and foundation. After the diversion, the educational system for English majors is 4 years (that is, 2+2 mode), and that for other majors is 5 years (that is, 2+3 mode).

In order to ensure students' continuous English learning, students of China-Canada International College can choose English as their second major after being transferred to other majors. The students trained by this model have strong English application ability and solid professional knowledge, which will contribute to the economic construction and social development of Guangxi.

Third, the teaching staff.

The teachers in our college are mainly foreign teachers. We employ foreign teachers once a year, usually for one year, and we employ 20 foreign teachers this school year. Up to now, * * * has hired 109 foreign teachers. In addition, there are 7 Chinese teachers in our college, including 3 associate professors, 2 lecturers and 2 teaching assistants.

Fourth, the situation of students.

Since the establishment of the college, there are 7 students, including 1987, of which 1654, 38+073 transferred to various colleges, and 50 went abroad to study at their own expense. At present, the college has 764 students.

Because the school-running mode and teaching quality of the college have been affirmed by the society, the quality of students has been improved year by year.

Verb (abbreviation of verb) scientific research work

The college actively carries out scientific research and encourages teachers to declare scientific research topics, carry out teaching research and write scientific research papers. Since the establishment of the College seven years ago, teachers have published more than 20 papers, monographs 1 department, and undertaken four educational science planning projects in the autonomous region. Among them, the research project "Research and Practice of Sino-foreign Cooperation in Running Schools to Cultivate Internationalized Compound Talents", which was presided over by President Qin, won the third prize of outstanding achievements in Guangxi educational science in 2006. The multimedia courseware project "Introduction to China Culture" hosted by Xiong Ying won the first prize in the Guangxi University Teaching Software Competition in 2004 and the second prize in the Fifth National Multimedia Courseware Competition in 2005. At the same time, the course "Introduction to China Culture" was awarded as a school-level excellent course in 2007. The College also established the "China-Canada Comparative Research Center" according to its own characteristics, and invited many experts at home and abroad to jointly carry out research.

Construction and reform of intransitive verb teaching

This major attaches great importance to the reform and update of practical teaching content, pays attention to the characteristics of students' English level and learning interest, and carries out a variety of practical teaching activities. Listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation courses in the teaching plan arrange a lot of classroom practice activities. Interactive and heuristic teaching methods provide more opportunities for each student to practice in class, and foreign teachers' teaching provides a strong guarantee for the quality of practical activities.

In addition, the college also mobilizes students to form various interest groups, such as translation, news, network design and so on. And appoint special teachers to give guidance from time to time; In the English corner, teachers and students organize various colorful activities and competitions, so that students can participate in English teaching practice as much as possible. In addition, students are also arranged to practice in the IELTS test center and teaching practice base of the college. These activities are very helpful to strengthen the cultivation of students' innovative thinking and comprehensive ability and have achieved good results.

Seven, the teaching effect

The students trained by the school-running mode of China-Canada College have performed well both during their university studies and after the diversion. For example, Qin Ye, a student of grade 2003, won the first prize (special prize) in Guangxi Division in the 2004 National CCTV Cup College English Competition, and won the Excellence Award on behalf of Guangxi in the national finals. Hu Yiyue, who transferred to the School of Cultural Communication in grade 200 1, participated in the "China Rookie International Exchange Trial" sponsored by CCTV in 2004 and won the championship of TV host adult group. In recent years, the students transferred from China-Canada International College to Law School have been participating in the Jessup International Moot Trial on behalf of Guangxi University, and all of them have achieved excellent results. Su Xiaozhen, a student of 2006 in our college, made outstanding performance in the final of the National College Students' Public Welfare Culture and Art Competition held in 2006 and won the title of "Public Welfare Ambassador".

The College organizes students to participate in translation, etiquette and volunteer work in China-ASEAN Expo and Nanning International Folk Song Art Festival every year. They work hard and perform well, and are highly praised by the organizing Committee every year.

Eight. Foreign exchange and cooperation

As the window of Guangxi University's foreign exchange, China-Canada International College actively carries out exchanges and cooperation with foreign universities. The college often invites some foreign experts and scholars to give lectures and carry out academic exchanges. With the help of the Canadian International Education Foundation and Center, the college has established a good cooperative relationship with Renison College of the University of Waterloo in Canada, and some credits between the colleges are mutually recognized. At present, there are 9 students studying in China-Canada International College. In addition, the teacher-student exchange program with Nipson University in Canada has produced good social benefits in recent years.

So far, nearly 50 students have gone abroad to study at their own expense.
