Sichuan University Art College is the earliest college established after the merger of 1994. After experiencing the organizational forms of Culture and Art College, Art College (1996) and Philosophy and Art College (1998), it resumed in June 2006. Art education in Sichuan University has a long history.
As early as the beginning of the 20th century, the school set up art majors such as fine arts and music, enrolled four-year undergraduate students, and trained and transported a number of art professionals for the society. Sichuan University Art College is one of the art colleges with relatively complete professional settings in national comprehensive universities. The college has three first-class doctoral programs in art theory, art and design, two MFA programs, and first-class master programs and professional directions covering major categories of art.
School art, visual communication design and dance performance were selected as the national first-class undergraduate professional construction points. China Painting and Calligraphy was selected as a provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction site. On 20 17, in the fourth round of discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education, the college art was rated as B+, and the art theory and design was rated as B+.
The college has 1 national first-class majors, 1 provincial majors and 2 school-level majors, 1 national top-quality courses, 1 national experimental teaching centers and 2 school-level key general courses. In 2009, it was approved as the experimental area of innovative artistic talents training mode of the Ministry of Education.
