University of South China is a comprehensive university jointly established by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the National Health and Wellness Commission, the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, China National Nuclear Corporation and the Hunan Provincial People's Government. It is a university supported by the basic capacity building project of universities in the central and western regions of the country, an outstanding engineer and excellent doctor education and training plan approved by the Ministry of Education, and a number of undergraduate enrollment institutions.
The school has formed a discipline professional system which focuses on engineering and medicine, and nine disciplines, such as philosophy, economics, law, literature, science, management and art, develop in a coordinated way.
The school has two campuses, Hongxiang and Yumu. There are 27 directly affiliated colleges, 6 directly affiliated hospitals, cooperative affiliated hospitals 1 1, and 23 cooperative postgraduate training units.
There are 67 undergraduate majors, 24 master's degree authorization points for first-level disciplines, and 19 master's degree authorization categories; There are 5 authorized points for doctoral degrees in first-level disciplines; There are three post-doctoral research stations in the first-level discipline. There are more than 35,000 full-time undergraduates, nearly 5,000 doctoral and master students and more than 600 international students.
The school has 15 national first-class undergraduate majors, including 2/kloc-0 national majors, national defense key majors and shortage majors, excellent planning majors and comprehensive reform pilot majors, 7 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, virtual simulation experimental teaching centers and practice education bases, 7 national first-class excellent courses, 3 national excellent courses and excellent open courses.
