He is currently the director of the Publicity and Education Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the deputy director of the Environmental Development Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the president of the World Environment, the former deputy director of the Publicity and Education Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and the former deputy director of the Mission Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection; Adjunct professor in six universities including Peking University and National School of Administration.

Since 2004, he has taught courses such as Environmental Technology Marketization and Environmental Policy Research in Peking University, Tsinghua University and Beijing Normal University. He is also the vice-chairman of the Steering Committee of Environmental Science and Engineering Teaching in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education, a member of the Environmental Education Working Committee of the Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences, a vice-chairman of the China Environmental Experts Association (PACE) and a member of the Education Committee of the World Conservation Union (CEC/ IUCN).
