The School of Architecture of Southeast University, located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, formerly known as the Department of Architecture of National Central University, was founded in 1927 and is the birthplace of modern architecture in China. 1952, the national colleges and universities became the architecture department of Nanjing Institute of Technology after adjustment. 1988 was renamed the Department of Architecture of Southeast University with the school, and was established as the School of Architecture of Southeast University in 2003.

The college consists of three departments and four research institutes, namely, Department of Architecture, Department of Urban and Rural Planning, Department of Landscape Architecture, Institute of Architectural History and Theory, Institute of Architectural Science and Technology, Institute of Art and Design, and Institute of Architectural Operation and Application. The School of Architecture of Southeast University is the affiliated unit of the previous directors of the National College Architecture Professional Steering Committee.

Mr. Liu Futai, Mr. Bao Ding and Mr. Lu Shusen, the famous pioneers of architectural education in China, have successively taken charge of the Department of Architecture. Yang Tingbao, a famous architect, and Professor Tong Mao, a member of the department, have long taught and presided over the department. Among them, Yang Tingbao is also the chairman of China Architectural Society and the vice chairman of International Association of Architects.
