Li's research on recovering finite discrete signals only by phase spectrum, amplitude spectrum or additional time domain sampling points has reached the international advanced level in signal reconstruction theory and algorithm research. He applied new signal processing and pattern recognition methods to seismic exploration data processing and achieved groundbreaking results.
Li has also made some achievements in the field of signal processing theory, methods and applications, such as partial data signal reconstruction, wavelet analysis, fractal signal processing and the application of these methods in oil and gas exploration and development. In addition, he is also engaged in the research of intelligent signal processing methods and systems such as artificial neural network, fuzzy system, theoretical model of evolutionary algorithm and its application in intelligent control of information network, and studies data mining and extraction, multimedia data compression and organization in high-speed network environment, as well as intelligent control of industrial production processes and equipment. Since 1997, he has mainly devoted himself to the research of bioinformatics and applied the information processing and pattern recognition methods of complex systems to molecular biology; Innovative achievements have also been made in the research of genome sequence information structure, gene regulation network modeling and simulation.
Li once presided over a major project of the Natural Science Foundation. He has won the National Natural Science Award, the Science and Technology Progress Award of the State Education Commission for four times (three first prizes and one second prize), the Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award, the National Excellent Science and Technology Book Award, the Excellent Textbook Award of the Ministry of Electronic Industry, and the Special Prize of the Excellent Teaching Achievements of the State Education Commission.
