Shandong University is a vice-ministerial university with a vice-ministerial president and secretary. The executive rank of the dean of the undergraduate college of Shandong University is deputy ministerial level. Shandong University is located in Jinan City, Shandong Province. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education and the Central Government of People's Republic of China (PRC). Shandong Province, referred to as "Lu" or "Qilu" for short, is a provincial-level administrative region of People's Republic of China (PRC). Jinan, the capital, is located on the eastern coast of China and the lower reaches of the Yellow River, bordering Hebei, Henan, Anhui and Jiangsu provinces in the north and south, with a total area of 6,543,800 square kilometers. The terrain is mainly plain, spanning five major water systems. Shandong Peninsula is surrounded by the sea on three sides, protruding from the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea, and far away from Liaodong Peninsula. It belongs to warm temperate monsoon climate.
