Harbin Institute of Technology (hereinafter referred to as Harbin Institute of Technology), headquartered in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and ranks among the national "double-class", "985 Project", "2 1 1 Project", Nine Universities Alliance, Pacific Rim University Alliance, China University Presidents Association and Excellent University Alliance.

195 1 has been identified as one of the two demonstration universities in China to learn the mode of running foreign higher education, and 1954 has entered the first batch of six key universities in China. 1996 entered the first batch of key construction universities in the national "2 1 1 project". 1999 was identified as one of the first nine universities in the "985 Project". In 2000, it merged with Harbin Jianzhu University to form the new Harbin Institute of Technology.
