The English name East China Normal University, referred to as "East China Normal University", is located in Shanghai, directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), and is a comprehensive research-oriented national key university approved by the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government.

East China Normal University was founded on June 195 1 month 1 6, and transferred to some departments of Daxia University (1924) and Guanghua University (1925).
Founded in the original site of Daxia University. 1972 merged with Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai Institute of Physical Education and other institutions and changed its name to Shanghai Normal University. 1980 Restore the name of East China Normal University. 1997- 1998, Shanghai Preschool Teachers College, Shanghai Education College and Shanghai Second Education College merged successively.
As of September 2022, the school has two campuses, Minhang and Putuo, with a total area of about 207 hectares and a total collection of more than 4,952,900 books. There are 33 colleges (departments) and 85 undergraduate majors;
