Optical Information System Tokushima University and COE Center of Excellence (roughly equivalent to China's "985" plan): The Japanese government actively promotes the reform and development of its higher education. In June of 20001year, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan issued the Policy of University Structure Reform, which proposed some reform measures such as the reorganization and merger of national universities, the incorporation of national universities and the introduction of third-party evaluation, and decided to implement the "2 1 century COE Plan" from 2002. COE is the center of excellence, which means "excellent research base".

With the key support of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, it aims to develop universities into universities with international competitiveness and full of personality. The following projects of Tokushima University were adopted.

Protein omics study on overcoming multifactorial diseases

In order to comprehensively analyze the basic projects of protein's research on metabolic diseases such as diabetes and osteoporosis, autoimmune diseases such as allergic diseases and collagen diseases, tumor diseases with cancer cell metastasis as the main target, and multifactorial diseases caused by various genetic and environmental factors.

Realize the nutrition science of controlling stress

For the pressure of external stimuli, the body will produce a biological response-stress response to protect the body and mind. Stress reaction will become the inducement of eating disorders such as loss of appetite, adult diabetes, even depression and suicide.

In this project, with the cooperation of nutrition, medicine and pharmacy researchers, an objective evaluation method of biological stress response was established, and functional food and nutrition management methods that can control stress were studied.
