The earliest International Universiade was held in Dole, France on 1923. Later, Warsaw, Rome and other places also held such competitions, but there were not many countries and projects at that time. After 1938, the sports meeting was suspended due to World War II and was not resumed until 1947. 1957 To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the French National Union of Students, the International Universiade and the International Cultural Festival were held in Paris. Representatives of more than 30 countries attending the meeting unanimously agreed that the World Universiade will be held regularly in the future, and in principle it will be held every two years. There are nine events in the competition: track and field, swimming, diving, water polo, gymnastics, fencing, tennis, basketball and volleyball. The host country has the right to add an item.
The first Universiade was held in Turin, Italy from August 27th to September 6th. 1959. Since then, Universiade has been held regularly, and by 2009, Universiade has been held for 25 times. The 26th Universiade will be held in Shenzhen on 20 1 1.
