Southwest Petroleum University, referred to as "Southwest Normal University" for short, was jointly established by China Petroleum and Natural Gas Corporation, China Petrochemical Corporation, China Offshore Oil Corporation and Sichuan Provincial People's Government, and was selected as the "Basic Capacity Building Project of Universities in the Midwest of China".
