Northwest University for Nationalities (hereinafter referred to as "Northwest University for Nationalities") was founded in September 1949 and is located in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province. It is the first university for nationalities founded after the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), directly under the State Ethnic Affairs Commission. Formerly known as Northwest University for Nationalities, it was renamed Northwest University for Nationalities in April 2003.
Guangxi University for Nationalities, located in Nanning, the "Greentown" of China, was founded in 1952.
Guangxi University for Nationalities was originally the Guangxi branch of the Central University for Nationalities (now the Central University for Nationalities). 1953 was renamed Guangxi University for Nationalities, 1958 was renamed Guangxi University for Nationalities, and in 2006 it was renamed Guangxi University for Nationalities.
