Fujian Institute of Technology, located in Fuzhou, a famous historical and cultural city, is the gateway to the Maritime Silk Road. It began in 1896 with the "Cang Society" founded by Sun Baoyu, Lin Shu, a famous gentleman in Fujian, and Chen, the last imperial envoy, which pioneered the new trend of modern education in Fuzhou.
1907, started engineering education, offering two courses: railway and telegraph. Before liberation, he was a prestigious "Fujian Senior Engineer". 1953 was divided into Fujian Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and Fujian Institute of Civil Engineering. 1960 was renamed Fujian Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and Fujian Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture, and was known as "Huangpu Military Academy in the construction industry" and "the cradle of mechanical and electrical engineers" in Fujian.
In 2000, Fujian Higher Institute of Technology merged with Fujian China Vocational University to form Fujian Vocational and Technical College. In 2002, Fujian Institute of Architecture merged with Fujian Vocational and Technical College and was upgraded to Fujian Institute of Engineering.
