Shanxi University, located in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Shanxi Province, which is jointly established by the People's Government of Shanxi Province and the Ministry of Education, and is a key university in Shanxi Province. It was selected into the national "Comprehensive Strength Improvement Project of Central and Western Universities" and "Basic Capacity Building Project of Central and Western Universities".

Shanxi University was formerly known as Shanxi University Hall, which was founded on May 8, 1902. 19 12 was renamed as Shanxi university, 19 18 was confirmed as national Shanxi university, and 193 1 was renamed as Shanxi university.
