Hunan Agricultural University, referred to as "Hunan Agricultural University", is located in Changsha City, Hunan Province. It is a university jointly established by People's Republic of China (PRC), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Hunan Provincial People's Government, the leading construction unit of the National "20 1 1 Plan" Collaborative Innovation Center, the first batch of national new rural development research institute construction pilot units, and the first batch of national outstanding agricultural and forestry talents education and training program pilot universities.

Hunan Agricultural University is one of the universities selected by the national "Basic Capacity Building Project for Universities in the Midwest", one of the universities built by the national "Key Discipline Project with Characteristics", one of the universities built by the national high-level postgraduate program, one of the "double-class" A-class universities in Hunan Province, and one of the universities with postgraduate exemption qualification.

Hunan Agricultural University started from a private school founded on June 8, 1903, and went through the stages of Hunan Private Higher Agricultural Vocational School, Hunan Agricultural College and Hunan Agricultural College.

1951March, Hunan Agriculture and Forestry College and Hunan University Agricultural College merged to form Hunan Agricultural College; In June of the same year+10, President Mao Zedong wrote the name of the school in his own handwriting. Postgraduates begin to enroll students 1978. 1987 began to recruit doctoral students. 1994 changed its name to Hunan Agricultural University in March.

As of May 2023, the school covers an area of 235 hectares (about 3,525 mu), with a building area of 65.438+0.04 million square meters. The total fixed assets excluding land reached 654.388+0.8 billion yuan, and the teaching and research instruments and equipment amounted to 330 million yuan.
