Daxue is one of the Confucian classics in ancient China. Legend has it that this was written by Ceng Zi. In Song Dynasty, Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi paid special attention to The Great Learning. They extracted The Great Learning from The Book of Rites and adapted it to make it independent.
On the basis of the second adaptation, Zhu continued to process and sort it out, divided it into Jing and Zhuan, and made sentences. He expounded his thoughts through annotations, and compiled four books with The Analects of Confucius, Mencius and The Doctrine of the Mean, which had great influence in the late feudal society (Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties).
Zhu believes that "Jing" is the word used by Zeng Shen to describe Confucius. "Biography" is described by Zeng Shen's disciples, but there is no clear basis. In the early Qing Dynasty, Chen did refute the book "On the University", arguing that "it was not written by pre-Qin Confucianism".
Contemporary scholars believe that it was written by Confucianism in Qin and Han Dynasties. Some people think that the "home", "country" and "world" mentioned in "Great Learning" belong to doctors, governors and emperors respectively, which reflects the situation before the reunification of Qin Dynasty and should be regarded as Confucian works in the Warring States period.
There are two versions of Da Xue: one is Da Sentence compiled by Zhu; First, the ancient books arranged in the original order, that is, the original "university" in the Book of Rites. Zhu's "University Chapters and Sentences" is the most widely circulated and influential.
"University" is a "primary school", that is to say, it is not a "primary school" that talks about "detailed exegesis and clear sentence reading", but a "university" that talks about running the country and keeping the country safe. "University" is an adult's study.
"University" is "the gateway for beginners to enter Germany". After the first chapter, three programs are put forward, namely, to be moral, to be close to the people, and to stop at perfection, and eight items are put forward, namely, to be realistic, sincere, upright, cultivate one's morality, keep the family in order, run the country and level the world. Eight items are the way to realize the three programs.
Extended data:
University comes from The Book of Rites, which was originally the 42nd of 49 articles in The Book of Rites. The Book of Rites was originally named The Book of Rites of Little Dai, also known as The Book of Little Dai. It was compiled by Dai Sheng in Xuan Di era according to a batch of anonymous Confucian works left over from history.
Ban Gu, a dynastic historian, notes that "The Book of Rites was written by the people after 1970s" in 131 Historical Records, and thinks that the book was written mainly from the early Warring States Period to the early Western Han Dynasty.
Cui Shu, a native of Qing Dynasty, said, "The style of every article is exhausted by time ..." There are too many words in Daxue, so it should be in the Warring States period. "("Zhu Thinking New Record Lu Quan ")
On the whole, Daxue was written in the early Warring States period, after Confucius and before Mencius and Xunzi, that is, around the 5th century BC, and it was a work of the Zeng school of pure Confucianism. That is to say, "Da Xue" should be a work in the early Warring States period, and its author should be "Zeng's Confucianism", which is now recognized by academic circles as the work of Zeng Shen in the early Warring States period.
