Anbang College of Nanjing University was founded in August 2020. There are 588 undergraduates in the college, covering many categories such as science experimental classes (chemistry and life sciences), science experimental classes (earth sciences and resources and environment), stomatology and clinical medicine (5+3 integration). Named after Academician Dai Anbang, the college aims at adhering to Mr. Dai Anbang's concept of comprehensive science education.

Anbang College of Nanjing University is named after Dai Anbang, an alumnus of Nanjing University, an inorganic chemist, a chemical educator and an academician of China Academy of Sciences. Academician Dai Anbang taught in Nanjing University all his life, and devoted his life to the construction of chemistry discipline and the cultivation of chemical talents in China. He once participated in the establishment of chinese chemical society, Chemistry magazine and the State Key Laboratory of Coordination Chemistry of Nanjing University, and made great contributions to the development of chemistry in China.

Mr. Dai devoted all his life to the cultivation of scientific talents, advocated the concept of "all-science education", and pointed out that "all-science education requires teaching not only to impart scientific knowledge and technology, but also to cultivate scientific thinking and methods, and to cultivate scientific spirit and scientific ethics", which has sent a batch of outstanding chemical talents to China.

The school was founded in Sanjiang Normal School on 1902, and was renamed Nanjing University on 1950 after Liangjiang Normal School, Nanjing Higher Normal School, National Southeast University and National Central University. 1952 merged with College of Arts and Sciences of Jinling University, still named Nanjing University. The school site was moved from Sipailou to the original site of Jinling University in Gulou.

In 2006, the Ministry of Education and Jiangsu Province signed an agreement on key construction of Nanjing University.
