Due to the limited medical conditions in ancient times, it is difficult to ban prevention and control measures. Once a plague breaks out in a certain area, almost all people in this city will die, and few will survive.
So where did the word "plague" first come from? According to historical records, it was first published in Zhou Li Tianguan Notes, which recorded that "people's diseases are raised by sick doctors, and sometimes there are dysentery." Secondly, Lv Buwei's "Lu Chunqiu Ji Chun Ji" records: "Ji Chun is prosperous in Xia Zhishi, and the people are sick." It shows that the knowledge of plague has reached a certain level at that time, and it is believed that plague can occur all year round. One of the reasons is that the seasonal qi is abnormal, which is caused by "untimely qi"
Ancient plagues specifically include: plague, smallpox, influenza, cholera, malaria and so on. In the past, drugs were difficult to cure, and traditional Chinese medicine could only play an inhibitory role. Smallpox, in particular, was basically declared dead once children in ancient times were infected with smallpox. The most terrible thing is the plague (also known as the Black Death). For example, in the fifteenth year of Chongzhen in the late Ming Dynasty, a large-scale plague broke out all over the country, resulting in a large number of deaths and social unrest.
At that time, there was a famous doctor named Wu Youxing in Wuzhong generation, who was proficient in medical skills. After observing the situation of many patients, he devoted himself to research and seriously summarized, put forward a new set of medical knowledge, cured many plague patients with traditional Chinese medicine, and wrote a book on febrile diseases, which was the first in China. Based on his life-long experience in treating epidemic diseases, he boldly put forward the pathogenic theory of "furuncle", which is also a great pioneering work in the history of medical infectious diseases in the world, and thus won wide praise from future generations.
Later, the "pneumonic plague" that broke out in the northeast in the late Qing Dynasty 19 10 was also very horrible. This time, the plague was caused by two Russian businessmen who were infected and took the Middle East Railway to Manzhouli and Heilongjiang, and terrible plague events broke out in Harbin and three northeastern provinces in history. This plague is highly contagious and the time of death is fast. It happened that Lian Dewu, a doctor of medicine who was studying in the United States at that time, was invited by Yuan Shikai to work in China. After learning that the plague broke out, he ignored his own safety and took people to the three northeastern provinces to start treating the plague.
At that time, the medical profession thought it was contact with mice and jumped on them. At the peak, Harbin died in one day 180 people. However, with the advice of Japanese and Russian experts, the officials and people in the three northeastern provinces have almost eliminated the rats, and the plague is still spreading. Finally, Japanese and Russian experts were helpless. But Lian Dewu believes that its broadcast route is definitely not so simple. After dissecting the bodies of mice and infected people, he thought they were infected through breathing and air. His theory overthrew traditional medical knowledge for the first time, and temporarily invented "Wu's mask", which is the first time in the history of world medicine to invent and use a mask.
However, Lian Dewu's research conclusion was refuted by Japanese and Russian experts and dismissed as nonsense. Mesny, a Frenchman, is the chief professor of Beiyang Medical College. He didn't believe that the plague could spread through the air, so he refused Lian Dewu's suggestion of wearing a mask during the field investigation. Results Mesny had a series of symptoms less than three days after contact with the patient, and finally died suddenly. Mesny's death shocked the whole Northeast and Qing governments. At this time, Lian Dewu's suggestion was trusted and valued by the Qing court.
Under the active treatment of Lian Dewu, he founded the plague laboratory and treated it in isolation, and cured the Great Plague in Northeast China through pharmacology of Chinese and Western medicine. He is called "the unparalleled master of Chinese studies", the founder of modern medicine in China, the founder of Chinese Medical Association, the pioneer of Harbin Medical University and so on. Because of Lian Dewu's contribution in this field, he was elected as a candidate for the Nobel Prize in Medicine with 1935, becoming the first Chinese to win this honor.
The first plague outbreak in history occurred in the 6th century, originated in the Middle East, and its epidemic center was on the Mediterranean coast of the Near East. In 542 AD, it passed through Port Said in southern Egypt and spread to North Africa and Europe along the land and sea trade routes, affecting almost all famous countries at that time. The epidemic lasted for 50 or 60 years, with 10,000 people dying every day, and the death toll in the extreme epidemic period was close to 100 million. This epidemic led to the decline of the Eastern Roman Empire.
Another example is cholera, which is an acute diarrhea infectious disease caused by food or water contaminated by Vibrio cholerae. After being infected with cholera, patients will vomit and diarrhea uncontrollably until their intestines and stomach are empty, and the resulting dehydration will cause severe muscle spasms and sunken eyes, until they finally die of bruises, dryness and pain, which is extremely terrible. If not treated in time, it often takes only a few hours from infection to death.
Others, such as influenza, smallpox and malaria, had a higher outbreak rate in ancient times. Because there were no good measures, people were often infected everywhere. In order to prevent epidemic, the imperial court sometimes trapped people in a city, which can be described as come to a bad end. There were 77 plague incidents around Wei and Jin Dynasties. During the three hundred years of the Tang Dynasty, there were more than twenty plagues. The Ming dynasty also broke out no less than fifteen times. There are countless plagues caused by wars and floods.
The ten largest outbreaks of infectious plague in human history have caused at least hundreds of millions of deaths, social and national unrest, and become the biggest disaster in human history.
Although with the progress of science and technology in today's society, many diseases have been suppressed and treated, such as smallpox, cholera and malaria, which were declared completely conquered by human beings at the end of the 20 th century, are no longer serious diseases. The times are progressing, but the struggle between human beings and diseases has not been relaxed for a moment. From SARS in 2003, to Ebola virus, avian flu, swine flu, and today's COVID-19 virus, it is synonymous with plague. While human progress, it has caused irreparable damage to the environment. The earth is not owned by one person, but maintained by human beings themselves. It is understandable that human ignorance destroys nature, kills animals at will and naturally retaliates against human beings.
Here, I hope that human beings can care for this earth, create a better future world together, and return us a land of green mountains and green waters to benefit future generations and keep the virus away from our lives. I hope that COVID-19 will be eliminated and reappeared as soon as possible, and the national economy will recover strongly.
