Buster keaton's Performance Experience
Early experience

Keaton's first film after winning the prize was Butcher Boy. In this film, Keaton shows his iconic "stone face" performance, and it can also be noted that Keaton brought his iconic "pork pie hat". It can be said that Keaton and Chaplin are both born comedy stars, and both can find their own movie images in the first place. Fat Arbuckle also quickly noticed Keaton's extraordinary comedy talent, and vigorously promoted Keaton to become Keaton's mentor in learning film technology.

It was not long before. 19 18, Keaton was drafted into the army and participated in the first world war. He was sent to the European battlefield. Although the war ended four months later, he stayed there for eight months without winning a battle. Because as a translator, his main task is to become an actor in the army. Even after the war, those soldiers waiting to go home need some entertainment. Later, Keaton put the jokes of this period into the short film backstage. 19 19, he returned to new york. He turned down the invitations of Jack William and William Fox and returned to the comedy film company. At this time, joseph schenk signed Fat Man into Paramount with a record high contract (3 million dollars in three years) and invited Keaton to shoot a short film. To this end, he established buster keaton Comedy Company and began to shoot a series of comedies. 1920, Keaton filmed the first feature film "Sahead". The company bought Charlie Chaplin's Lone Star Studio for Mutual, and shot 19 short films in one breath. Although it is a short film, buster keaton's comedy lineup is actually quite strong. Investors include Joseph Schenck, the chairman of UA, his brother Nicholas Schenck, David Bernstein, the vice president of Loew Cinema, and Marcus Loew himself, A.P. Giannini and Irvin Berlin, the chairman of Bank of America. More importantly, Schenk gave Keaton full production autonomy and cooperated with a mature team. Edie Cline, a veteran from Cenit, is the director, Elgin Lessley is the photographer and Lou Anger is the studio manager of Fat Man. Jean Harvey and Clyde Bruckman collaborated with Joseph Mitchell as gagman. In addition, Fred Gabriel was the technical director and J Sherman Kyle was the editor. Every film is discussed by Qi Xin, which makes Keaton's films have a very high maturity from the beginning.

1922 Keaton bought a big house and let the Talmadge family live in it. In the same year, Talmaci gave birth to his first son. From 65438 to 0923, with the success of Keaton, buster keaton's films began to be released by MGM, and his film career entered a glorious period.

Brilliant period

From 1923 to 1929, it was the most brilliant six years in buster keaton's film career. During these six years, he made 12 feature films, each of which was very successful. He is as famous as Charlie Chaplin for his unique appearance and comedy performance (in fact, Keaton was the most popular comedian at that time because the frequency of Chaplin's films decreased greatly in the 1920s. Among them, The Way to Treat Guests (1923), Voyager (1924), Little Sherlock (1924), General (1926) and Little Steamboat Bill. After joining MGM, Keaton made a classic film like The Photographer that year, but because he lost control of his own film and didn't have the support of the technical team, Keaton's films began to enter the MGM routine. As MGM's first action comedy star, the studio actually has no idea how to use it. Especially after entering the sound film, Keaton can't improvise without a script as before because of the strict control of the production process by the studio. Instead, we should use the written script according to the requirements of the studio, shoot on the set, strictly control the budget and shooting progress, and use the stunt body double, so that Keaton can't design action comedies in the film as before, and the vitality and rhythm of the film are also greatly reduced (Keaton's drinking problem aggravates this), and gradually become a general comedy. This feature is particularly obvious after Keaton partnered with the famous comedian Jimmy Durrant (in fact, after the studio system matured, the traditional stick comedy almost disappeared. The famous exception is a series of films co-produced by Keaton's partner Eddie Clines and W.C.Fields around the world. Although they are all improvised in the form of traditional comedies, they are an exception because they can miraculously.

1 February, 9661day, buster keaton died in Los Angeles, California at the age of 7 1 year.
