City College of Xi Jiaotong University is an independent full-time undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education (J&F Letter [2004] No.71). The college covers an area of 203 mu, with a school building area of 68,000 square meters. After the transformation, the campus environment is elegant, the school conditions are complete and the infrastructure is advanced. The construction plan of the new campus covers an area of about 1.200 mu. The first phase of the project will start at the end of 2004 and be initially completed in 2006.

According to the needs of modern science and technology and regional economic and social development, the City College of Xi Jiaotong University has set up disciplines and majors reasonably, and cultivated them according to professional categories. In 2004, City College of Xi Jiaotong University set up seven undergraduate majors in two categories: information (electronic information engineering, computer science and technology) and economic management (business administration, marketing, accounting, finance, international economy and trade), enrolling more than 1 100 students.
