1. Geological exploration and resource development: Geophysical engineers use geophysical methods and techniques to explore and evaluate underground resources (mineral resources, oil and natural gas). The information of underground structure, lithology and groundwater can be obtained by using seismic exploration, electromagnetic method, gravity measurement and magnetic method, which provides scientific basis for resource development and management.
2. Disaster monitoring and early warning: Geophysical engineers can use seismology, geomagnetism and geoelectricity methods to monitor and predict natural disasters such as earthquakes, geological disasters, volcanic activity and land subsidence. By monitoring the changes of the earth's crust and physical field, natural disasters can be found and warned in advance, which can provide important early warning information for relevant departments and society, thus reducing the losses caused by disasters.
