This history can be traced back to the origin of National Chung Cheng University. After the victory of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, Chung Cheng University moved to Nanchang, and 1949 was renamed as National Nanchang University. However, in 1952, Nanchang University was also split and different departments were assigned to other universities.
National Nanchang University was formerly known as National Chung Cheng University. On August 1949, National Chung Cheng University was ordered to change its name to "National Nanchang University". It was renamed National Nanchang University because it is located in Nanchang, the birthplace of China People's Liberation Army, the political, economic, cultural and military center of Jiangxi Province and the hometown of famous ancient literati.
