According to the Immigration Ordinance of the HKSAR Government, non-local people who do not have the right of abode in the HKSAR must apply for a student visa if they want to come to Hong Kong for education. Under normal circumstances, only non-locals attending full-time courses will be issued with student visas. All mainland students who come to study in Hong Kong must be guaranteed entry visas by Hong Kong schools. Therefore, universities in Hong Kong will provide visa guarantees for mainland students who are admitted to full-time undergraduate or research degree courses, and help arrange for their applications to be submitted to the Hong Kong Immigration Department for examination and approval. Generally speaking, it takes about 6-8 weeks to apply for a visa. Mainland students should apply for an entry visa to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region immediately after being admitted to the school. At the same time, the school will send the entry visa application form to the candidates. Students who take relevant courses should send the completed visa application form and supporting documents back to our admissions office within a limited time.
The steps are as follows:
1. Fill in the application form for entry visa issued by the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
2. Fill in the school document "Letter of Guarantee for Applicants Needing a Visa (Mainland China)" and entrust our school in writing to provide visa guarantee for the SAR.
3. Please send the photocopies of the following documents together with the completed entry visa application form and letter of guarantee to the Admissions Office of our university (note: the name of the applicant, the name of the course to be enrolled, the course number and the ID number must be written on each photocopy):
* Mainland resident identity card (if you have valid travel documents, such as Hong Kong and Macao Pass or China passport, please provide a copy);
* Household registration certificate or resident population registration card;
* Education certificate (including high school diploma, senior three report card and national unified college entrance examination report card)
* Admission notice issued by our school;
* proof of economy (such as proof of fixed income, proof of bank deposit, proof of owning real estate or property);
* Proof of payment of entry visa fee and speedpost visa postage.
After collecting the required documents, the school will submit the application to the Immigration Bureau for approval. After the Hong Kong Entry Permit is issued, the school will send the certificate to the students by express mail.
5. After obtaining the entry permit of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, immediately apply to the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security where the household registration is located for a pass and endorsement to and from Hong Kong and Macao.
