Biographical notes

1983, Yang Liwei was admitted to the Eighth Flight Academy of the Air Force. Graduated in four years.

1996, Yang Liwei participated in the physical examination of the astronaut primary election.

1998 65438+ 10, together with other 13 outstanding pilots of the air force, became the first generation of astronauts in China.

In July, 2003, Yang Liwei was assessed by the Astronaut Selection and Assessment Committee for Manned Space Engineering, and was awarded the qualification of Class III astronaut.

At 9: 00 Beijing time on June 65438+1October 65438+May 2003, Yang Liwei went into space for the first time on the Shenzhou 5 spacecraft carried by the Long March II F rocket. His pioneering work with technical experts made China the third country to master manned space technology.

On February 9, 2004, Yang Liwei was awarded an honorary doctor of science degree by the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Asteroid 2 1064 was named after Yang Liwei.
