China Ocean University is a key comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education, with distinctive features and complete disciplines. It is a key university under the National "985 Project" and "21Project", and was selected as "World-class University Construction University" (Class A) in September 20 17.

The school was founded in 1924. After private Qingdao University, National Qingdao University, National Shandong University and Shandong University, it developed into Shandong Ocean University in 1959 and was identified as one of the national key comprehensive universities in 1960. 1988 was renamed Qingdao Ocean University.
