Shijiazhuang, referred to as "Stone" for short, is the capital of Hebei Province, located in the southwest of Hebei Province, formerly known as Shimen. The total area of Shijiazhuang is 15848 square kilometers, and the urban area is 2206 square kilometers. Shijiazhuang has 8 districts, 1 1 counties and 3 county-level cities. It is the political, economic and cultural center of Hebei Province.
Shijiazhuang is located in the south-central part of Hebei Province, in the economic zone around Bohai Bay. Hengshui in the east, Xingtai in the south, Shanxi in the west and Baoding in the north, 273 kilometers away from the capital Beijing. Jingshi, Shitai, Shihuang, Shi 'an expressway, National Highway 107, 207, 307, 308, 2 provincial highways and 42 county roads crisscross Shijiazhuang, with a total mileage of 6,379 kilometers. Shijiazhuang is the main hub of national railway transportation, where four railway trunk lines, namely Beijing-Guangzhou, Shitai, Shide and Huang Shuo, meet.
Shijiazhuang, which straddles the North China Plain and Taihang Mountain, is one of the main producing areas of grain, vegetables, meat, eggs and fruits in China, with a high level of agricultural intensification and industrialization. Its production scale ranks first among 36 key cities in China, and it has been identified as a high-quality wheat production base by the state, and is known as the "northern granary".
Because President Mao Zedong commanded three major battles that shocked China and foreign countries in Xibaipo, Pingshan County, Shijiazhuang City, it is also called "the cradle of new China".
