The main purpose of the annual VALSE seminar is to provide a stage for young scholars in China (mainly those born after 1970s and 1980s) to have in-depth academic exchanges in the fields of computer vision, image processing, pattern recognition and machine learning.

On this stage, we uphold and advocate the scientific spirit of rational criticism, courage to explore, demonstrate and innovate; On this stage, we advocate rational and pure academic contention and ideological confrontation under the principle of freedom and equality; On this stage, I look forward to enjoying the increasingly beautiful academic val of young scholars in China. Through this stage, it is expected to promote the exchange of ideas and academic cooperation among domestic young scholars, thus making heavyweight academic contributions in related fields and enhancing the academic influence of China scholars on the international academic stage.

Up to now, VALSE has been successfully held for five times, namely, Valse201(Hangzhou), VALSE 20 12 (Xi 'an), VALSE 20 13 (Nanjing) and VALSE 20 14 (Nanjing). After voting by all participants of VALSE 20 15, the organizing committee decided to hold VALSE 20 16 in Wuhan in April of 20 16, with Professor Bai Xiang (Huazhong University of Science and Technology) and Professor Zhong (Wuhan University) as the hosts.
