The postgraduate examination of industrial design major consists of four courses, namely: politics, English, major one and major two. Among the two specialized courses, most schools choose "Design Creativity" and "Design Theory".

The content of design analysis may be the analysis of a specific product, a consumer group and a design concept. The angle of analysis includes form, function, man-machine relationship, color, psychological needs and so on. If it is a simple design history exam, candidates only need to carefully review the professional reference books designated by the school. But now many colleges and universities are more inclined to test design analysis, and there are no fixed reference books. Like the design creative test questions, it mainly examines the examinee's usual accumulation and comprehensive application of subject knowledge.
Second, the design creative audit guidance
Students who have never participated in the postgraduate entrance examination are always full of doubts about the review of this course, how to prepare for the exam, and what problems will appear when they are confused. From the above introduction, we know that the design idea is to design a product by hand drawing. On the surface of the paper, the teacher does not ask the candidates to draw beautiful final renderings, but to examine the overall design ideas of the candidates. This is the core of undergraduate design teaching, but it is often the weak link in teaching.
To this end, the author summarizes the design ideas of high scores into nine elements in teaching:
1. Layout design: A beautiful layout will leave a very good first impression on the examiner, making it easy for candidates to win the examiner's favor from the beginning.
2. Design analysis: use concise words to explain the people corresponding to the design and the functions and innovations of the product. Candidates don't need many words when doing this part of the test, but they must have the necessary words.
3. Design concept exhibition diagram: graphically show how to create a specific product from a requirement/form/concept step by step. This kind of exhibition doesn't need to take up much space, but it must be available. This is often the most important thing for marking teachers, and it is also the judging point that determines whether you can get high marks.
4. Multiple plans: Maybe the exam topic tells you how many plans you need to make, or maybe the topic is not explained, but you must have multiple plans, which reflects the breadth of your thinking. Same situation? A program must score higher than a program.
5. Final scheme: choose a scheme as the final scheme and show it in the form of effect diagram. Because of the short time, the so-called renderings are slightly finer, more detailed and more colorful than the general design sketches.
6. Basic Theme Map: The author calls the products drawn in each scheme the basic theme map, which is the most important part of the sketch. We usually train candidates mainly in this field, which requires long-term training and cannot be improved in a short time, so candidates should pay attention to the training of basic skills at ordinary times.
7. Detailed drawing: In order to show the function and shape of some products in particular, we need to enlarge a certain part of the products. This is the basic part of sketch, which reflects the richness of candidates' thoughts when sketching, and is also an important indicator to distinguish the level of candidates, because the ability can often be seen from the details.
8. Use scenario/pattern diagram: This is also an important indicator to distinguish candidates' abilities. 9. Color matching: This is very important. It is suggested that there should be no more than four colors in the sketch. Candidates should make full use of the test questions to show the level of color matching if they want to leave a good impression on the examiner. Then, be sure to pay attention to which colors are primary colors and which colors are secondary colors.
What candidates need to be reminded here is that when we test design creativity, it is important to draw well, but the examiner pays more attention to your design thinking. If you can design according to the above nine aspects, the examiner will think that you have comprehensive consideration and systematic design thinking ability. Even if your painting skills are not good enough, there is still hope to get high marks.
Third, the design theory review guidance
There are two main examination forms of design theory: 1 100 million tons is to test the knowledge of design history, which is relatively simple, as long as you carefully remember and sort out the knowledge points according to the reference books, so I won't focus on it here; There are still 100 million tons of design analysis questions, some of which are to analyze your design works, some are to analyze other people's design works, some are to analyze a certain kind of design ideas or methods, or to talk about some design concepts as required. This kind of topic is generally not easy to prepare directly, which requires a lot of accumulation of design theory knowledge on weekdays. It can be said that the design analysis problem is the synthesis of all theoretical knowledge of undergraduate design courses. To this end, candidates should pay attention to the following methods when preparing for the exam if they want to get high marks in the exam:
First of all, we should consciously collect all kinds of information about the relevant test sites. Such as function, shape, color, material, structure, technology, man-machine, psychological needs, detail design, design style or design method. Candidates should pay special attention to these knowledge points when reading professional books on design theory.
Secondly, even if you don't take an examination of design history, you should read books on design history. When writing a thesis, if candidates can elaborate from the perspective of design history, they can reflect a considerable theoretical height. At the same time, the classic design in the history of design is the best gambling argument, and its application in the paper will effectively improve the quality of the article.
In addition, candidates can look for ideas from the theoretical systems of other disciplines as the core concepts of their own design concepts. For example, from the perspective of Maslow's psychological needs, or from the golden mean thought of China's traditional philosophy, it can make candidates win gambling points.
Finally, there is a special way. Candidates can search the recent papers published by their tutors in the school through the school's paper search software to see the latest research results of the tutors.
