University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is a public research university located in Los Angeles, USA. It is a member of the Pacific Rim University Alliance and the International Public University Forum. Known as the "public Ivy League", it was selected into the British government's "high potential talent visa program".

1881March, at the strong demand of Los Angeles residents, the California Parliament established the Southern Branch of California State Teachers College (the predecessor of San Jose State University) in downtown Los Angeles, aiming at training teachers for the growing population in Southern California.
This Los Angeles State Normal University was established on August 29th, 1882. The original site is located in the central library of today's Los Angeles Public Library. The facility includes a primary school, which provides internship teachers with opportunities to carry out educational practice with children. This elementary school is the predecessor of today's UCLA Laboratory School.
