The predecessor of Hohai University can be traced back to Hohai Engineering College founded in Nanjing in 19 15. 1952 The Water Conservancy Department of Nanjing University, the Water Conservancy Department of Jiaotong University, the Water Conservancy Department of Tongji University, the Water Conservancy Department of Zhejiang University and the East China Water Conservancy Institute merged to form the East China Water Conservancy Institute. 1960 has become one of the 32 key engineering universities in China. 1985, the traditional school name of "He Hai" was restored and inscribed by Comrade Deng Xiaoping.
