The Music Department of Southern College of Sun Yat-sen University was founded on 20 12, and now it offers musicology (music education, musicology theory and application), which is open to the whole country, and other related majors will be opened in the future.

This course pays attention to the teaching method of combining theory with practice. The curriculum covers four courses: public basic courses, musicology technical and non-technical courses, music basic application courses and music education theory and application courses, aiming at cultivating compound practical and applied talents of music majors.

There are 9 full-time teachers 19 and 7 part-time teachers in the Music Department, who graduated from the University of North Texas, the University of Maryland, the University of Miami, the Freiburg National Conservatory of Music, Xinghai Conservatory of Music, South China Normal University and other famous conservatories at home and abroad, including national second-class professor 1 0, 4 professors, 5 associate professors and lecturer 10.
