1966 graduated from the drama literature department of Shanghai Theatre Academy. During the "Cultural Revolution" disaster, in view of the cultural extremism under the banner of "model drama", it sneaked into foreign language stacks and established a grand framework of world drama. Published in time after the disaster, it is still the only authoritative textbook in this field for more than 30 years.

After 1999, he hosted Hong Kong Phoenix Satellite TV's Historical Investigation of Human Civilization Sites, and traveled tens of thousands of kilometers to visit a series of most important cultural sites such as Babylonian civilization, Crete civilization, Hebrew civilization, Arab civilization, Indian civilization and Persian civilization. He became the only humanities professor in the world who crossed tens of thousands of kilometers of dangerous areas, and he was also the first scholar to report the actual situation of the terrorist-controlled area to the civilized world before the 9. 1 1 incident. Shanghai Education Commission awarded the license to set up Master Yu's Studio, and China Academy of Fine Arts set up the Painting Academy. He is currently the director of Shanghai Library and the dean of the School of Humanities and Arts of Macau University of Science and Technology.
