Changchun University is a provincial full-time comprehensive university in Jilin Province, located in Changchun City, the northern spring city. It is the first batch of colleges and universities approved by the Ministry of Education to accept foreign students. The school is the former site of Jianguo University in Changchun, and it is the highest institution of learning in the period of Puppet Manchukuo 1938. 1949 after the founding of new China, Changchun institute of industrial accounting and statistics was established, which is affiliated to the Ministry of industry of the northeast people's government. Later, the names Changchun Industrial Planned Economy School, Changchun Metallurgy College and Jilin Electromechanical Liaison College were used.
1987 With the approval of the former State Education Commission, Jilin University of Technology, Jilin Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Changchun Foreign Studies University and Changchun Vocational College were merged to form a new Changchun University.
