Brief Introduction of Wuhan University Library
Wuhan University Library is famous for its long history, rich collections, magnificent buildings and elegant environment. The predecessor of the library is the Hubei Qiangzi School Library founded by Zhang Zhidong, Governor of Huguang at the end of last century. It was officially completed on 19 1928, and named as the National Wuhan University Library. The library now has five branches: liberal arts branch, science branch, engineering branch, information science branch and medical branch, all of which are "research-level literature collection units" in Hubei Province. In August 2000, Wuhan University merged with Wuhan University of Water Conservancy and Electric Power, Wuhan Technical University of Surveying and Mapping and Hubei Medical University, and the libraries of the four universities merged into the new Wuhan University Library. The existing building area of the school is 4 1.925 square meters, and the reference room 1.660 1 square meter, with a total area of 58,526 square meters. Wuhan University Library plans to expand a new library of 35,000 square meters. After the new library is completed, the service function of the library will be further improved. The old library of Wuhan University and its surrounding buildings were listed in the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units, which is unique in the domestic library industry.
