Henry Watt University was founded in 182 1, formerly known as Edinburgh Institute of Technology. It has a long history and ranks eighth among British higher education institutions. It is the earliest industrial college in the world. Heriott-Watt University (English name: Heriot-Watt University) was named in memory of two Scottish pioneers who made great contributions in the fields of finance and technology, namely George Herry, a famous British financier, and Jeames Watt, a pioneer in steam power research. Watt University, based on advanced cultural knowledge, regards "enlightened, professional, scientific and technical education" as its charter, including humanities and scientific disciplines.
